cycle theft crime prevention advice

Alert message sent 16/10/2021 20:03:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Across Loughborough we are having an increase in theft of push bikes, we want to take this time to advise you on how to best look after any bike you may own.

When leaving your bike unattended, please make sure it is locked up securely, we recommended a solid ā€˜Dā€™ Lock.

We also recommend locking your bike up in a well-lit area that is visible to deter any potential thieves.

If you store your bike in a shed please make sure that your shed is secured with a good quality lock.

We also recommend taking pictures of your bike, noting down your frame number and any distinguishing features, this is so that you are able to pass the information to us in the unfortunate event your bike does get stolen, this will help with our enquiries.

If you are a Loughborough University Student or member of staff you are also able to register your bike with the University Security team, this means that if the Police recover a bike that has been stolen we are able to reunite it with the owner by liaising with University Security.
