Theft from Vehicle EVENT Door Sales and Residents Comments

Alert message sent 28/07/2021 12:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Attempt theft from motor vehicle on Flanders Close. Suspects were seen to enter the vehicle around 20:55 on 23rd July. Thankfully, the owner had not left anything in the vehicle. This shows the benefit to removing items from your vehicle but you also never know who is about. This incident is under investigation but if you have any good footage or information please get in touch. Crime number 21*414347

Please come and visit us at the “Welcome back Burbage” event in Pughe’s Paddock on Saturday 7th August between 09:30 – 14:00. The event coincides with the monthly farmers market and there will also be lots of local stalls there including local sports clubs, children’s groups and much more.

I will be joined by neighbourhood watch and Police Volunteer Jackie. We will have lots of crime prevention items ready for heading back into the darker nights. If you can’t make it then drop me an email if you need anything.

A subject close to my heart :( please be mindful if you use a bicycle to get to work. Please ensure it is locked up, property marked and left ideally in a secure location. There have been a couple of reports over the last few weeks of bicycles being taken from work locations so please be vigilant. I do spot bicycles dumped outside shops that don’t get locked up, these are easy targets for criminals so if you have children or grandchildren, just mention it to them and make sure they have a lock.

We are monitoring areas that have been raised as concerns by local residents. One of these locations include the car park at the bottom of Woodland Avenue/Banky Meadow. If you see anything suspicious please get as much details as possible and call 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (Emergency). You can also drop an email if you have any information and it can be dealt with “slow time” to Darren.stretton@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk

This week we have visited the Co-op on Boyslade road to complete a beat surgery. We spoke to many residents and it was great to see everyone again. We have also been out patrolling the village and speaking with residents around road safety and crime prevention.

Cavity wall anyone? (Concern from resident)

“I had some men ring my bell on Tuesday regarding cavity wall insulation.  A little suspicious as they wanted to book me an appointment for tues or wed as this apparently was the ONLY time they were in the area. I told them this wasn’t possible. I asked them to put some information into my post box for me to look at. Then they said they were in area next week! Again I asked for them to put info in post box. When I arrived home there was nothing!”

A resident has got in touch and would like to make others aware of ICE (In Case of Emergency) you can find out more here https://smartdriving.co.uk/Driving/Driving_emergencies/ICE.html

“By entering the acronym ICE - for In Case of Emergency - into the mobile's phone book, users can log the name and number of someone who should be contacted in an emergency.” Your phone would need to be unlocked for this to work so this would only be useful if you do not put a PIN/Password on your device although there may be ways around this.

Grange Drive message from resident

“I have just noticed someone has emptied a bag of rubbish including filthy cigarette ends, tins plastic bottles masks etc. and I see a similar dump further up the street. I know there is little you can do but just making you aware of the behaviour of some of our Burbage residents.”

We hope that all residents try to take care of the village but sometimes some may fall short. Lets hope it is a one-off. You can report rubbish and fly tipping to https://www.fixmystreet.com/?pwa or https://www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/info/580/litter_and_litter_bins

Thank you for taking the time to read and take care.
