NEIGHBOURHOOD BEAT OFFICER INTRODUCTION AND PRIORITY UPDATE

Alert message sent 14/06/2021 15:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Citizen

I wanted to just introduce myself again as despite meeting many of you out and about walking around sunny Uppingham, some may not be aware that I have taken over the Uppingham beat officer role. My name is PC Ingram and I have now replaced PC Ace as the Uppingham beat officer. I work from the same building which is the small office behind the town hall with PCSO Andy Wylie. I just wanted to take a few moments to update you on what the Uppingham beat team have been up to over the past month, and well certainly while I have been here anyway.

Through meetings with our communities we have identified that there are 3 main priorities that we need to focus on in Uppingham. Speeding, Anti- social behaviour and Drug issues.

We have been conducting regular speed checks on entering and surrounding areas of Uppingham, you will also may or may not have seen the mobile police speed van parked on Leicester road last week, as this is a hotspot from vehicles speeding into the Town from the A47.

It came to my attention that TODS piece was littered with glass last week. TODS piece has always been a target of anti- social behaviour but has been relatively quiet lately possibly due to lock down etc. We have increased patrols especially in the evenings to combat this (and the CCTV is now fixed that covers the area) . This includes other parks and areas of note that youths are known to gather.

We continue to team up with the local response officers patrolling highlighted drug dealing areas (although only a few identified). This benefits us as a beat team as our response officers are on duty all through the night / early hours.

I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming months. Don’t hesitate to stop and say hi if you see me wondering around the Town.

Many Thanks,

PC 1560 Anna-Marie Ingram
