NOT in Burbage but just to make you aware. There have been a couple of thefts of Land rovers in Leicestershire over the last few days. Please speak to any friends or neighbours who have these types of vehicle to raise awareness. Crime reduction ideas such as steering locks and blocking in vehicles help deter criminals. Good news and community news.

A local resident has been in touch regarding an incident in Burbage this year (January 2020), and wished to share the outcome with you all.

“Last January, driving along Herald Way, a large van coming in the opposite direction, overtook a parked car but didn’t return to his side of the road. I pulled over to the curb and stopped to avoid a collision. With the dashcam operating, I copied the video onto the computer and found it could be sent to Traffic Police Leics, on advice from PCSO Darren Stretton, for them to consider. I heard nothing more, until 30/11. It transpired the driver had ignored a request to confirm he was the driver in February, and last week was fined £660, £200 court costs, £66 victim charge and 6 points added to his licence.

No point in having a dashcam if you don’t use it for the purpose intended!”

You can report incidents and submit footage to https://www.leics.police.uk/ if you feel an offence has been committed.

Thank you and take care.
