Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

What has happened in Burbage this week?

Horsepool Christmas Lights

Theft of copper cylinders from a back garden on the Sapcote Road, sometime between midnight and 7 am on 13th into 14th of November. If you saw anything suspicious in the area please get in touch. Ideally vehicle registrations would really help with our investigation. There is always some building work going on around the village so if you are having any work done to your home, please ensure any valuable materials are locked away and not left unmonitored. Also consider what you leave about the house and on view. It can be difficult to keep CCTV and alarms in use when having work done but please do what you can to protect your property.

Report of scratched vehicle on Hinckley road near the Regency Court area. Ongoing concerns so please get in touch with me if you have any information around who is doing this. I have spoken to several residents in the area so please keep a look out. CCTV may provide us with the evidence needed to identify the person/s involved. If you are aware of who is responsible it is important that you contact us with any evidence you have so we can deal with this behaviour.

You said, we did

This week we have been speaking to residence and local Schools around traffic concerns in the Sketchley road area. Hopefully something positive will come from the discussions had. This has been an ongoing cause of complaint and will require the support of all agencies, residents and parents to resolve. We will continue to challenge irresponsible parking and speeding in the area as and when we are in a position to do so.

Spoken with local residents and completing targeted patrols in areas raised as concerns by residents. Issues raised include traffic related issues, drugs, Anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime. Some of the areas patrolled include the allotment area off Brookside, Three pots estate, Sketchley Grange, Sapcote Road and surrounding area as well as all the local parks.

Continued support for residence regarding crime prevention products/advice and youth engagement where requested within the community.

Good news and community news.

Waiting on you guys to send me some good news to share with with everyone (there’s got to be some out there). Any local charity, voluntary work, personal achievement or general good news story. Around 1600 Burbage residents receive this Email so it is a great platform to make the residents of Burbage proud. You can send me an Email directly to Darren.stretton@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk

No residential vehicle thefts or residential burglaries this week. Please continue to report suspicious behaviour with as much detail as possible to 101 non-emergency or 999 emergency.

Crime Prevention and other useful information

Catalytic converter thefts happen sporadically within the village. Occasionally we recover these items. The difficulty can be in linking the converter back to its owner. Please see the link for more advice regarding getting your converter marked. I also have a small amount of “security marking and registration packs” available sold at cost £5. The types of vehicle targeted for converter thefts include Hybrid versions of Honda Jazz, Lexus RX and Toyota's Auris and Prius.
