Remembrance Sunday and Update Burbage

Alert message sent 08/11/2020 16:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Remembrance Sunday

Due to current circumstances, today was very different than other years. Burbage usually gets a fantastic turnout in memory of service members who have died in war. I am sure many of you would have normally attended to pay your respects. The wreaths were laid throughout the morning in compliance with guidelines. Whilst out patrolling today I have taken a few pictures . I have added a picture below (taken today) of the memorial for you. Get in touch if you would like me to send you any more through.

An update on crime in the area.

1 incident of catalytic convertors being stolen from vehicles at an address on Foresters Road. Incident happened between 4th and 5th November.

Targeted vehicles include SUVs due to the easy access under the vehicle. Other vehicles targeted include Honda Jazz, Toyota Prius, Toyota Auris and Lexus RX. This is due to the metals within the Hybrid converter.

See website for more advice.

Residential Burglary. Sapcote Road on 06/11/2020 around 0100. Entry gained via rear doors. Possibly vehicle related. Intruders disturbed, several computer games taken. If you have any information that may help please contact and quote 20*586984.

I have been contacted by a resident to discuss a Scam phone call received on the landline claiming to be from Amazon. The call claimed that an IPhone had been purchased on their Amazon account. This was all a scam to try and obtain the residents bank details. The scammer was also asking the resident about their PC and laptop. This is done to try and gain access to your computer and personal details. Please just put the phone down if you receive these types of unexpected calls.

Please see Action Fraud, for Scam reporting and advice https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Please remember security items such as light timers, window alarms, car key wallets, steering locks and setting home alarms. We have a selection of sold at cost crime prevention stock available so click on REPLY if you would like the catalogue emailing to you.
