Halloween 2020 Update

Alert message sent 01/11/2020 09:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good Morning from Halloween Command,

I wanted to update you about our efforts to tackle ASB and general public disorder during
Halloween. You told us last year that ASB and public disorder caused you concern, we listened. This year we combined our COVID, ASB and Licensing operations, this meant we put more officers on patrol across the Harborough and Wigston NPA, this includes our Detective Inspector and Local Policing Inspector.

We were kept busy with the standard response incidents. Above this we dealt with incidents of ASB in most of the main places we cover, Wigston, Kibworth, Broughton Astley and Market Harborough. The general incident theme was, Domestics, Minor Public Order offences, Breaches of COVID in public places and dwellings, mental health, insecure property, drink driver, unlicensed driver and fireworks. Whilst crews were kept very busy generally COVID compliance, fireworks and ASB incidents were very low with only a handful reported across the two districts. We provided a visible policing service across the policing area from Thurnby to Broughton Astley, Lutterworth to Wigston and down to Harborough and everything in between.

As we heard of the news of a new lockdown our Police Chiefs will look to review the law’s purposed and issue new guidance on how this will be policed. We have plans in place to Bonfire week in any case, however we will assess if these need to be adjusted. We will keep you updated via Social Media, the forces website and Neighbourhood Link.

Stay safe everyone and thank you for your support.
