A summary of incidents over the last 2 weeks in Burbage

Reports of attempted breaks and breaks to addresses on Higham Way, Hawthorn Crescent and Westminster Drive. It appears these breaks are vehicle related. Point of entrance is usually at the back of the property through glass doors/windows. Targeted vehicles tend to be high value or high performance. Incident times are anywhere from midday until late night. Investigations are ongoing. Please consider window alarms, steering locks and always make your property look occupied. Please see the below links for more information. If you would like any support around crime prevention/products please get in touch.

Anti-Social Behaviour on Brookside Park. We have received reports of concerns involving youths on the park. Targeted patrols are taking place and we are working with local schools to challenge this behaviour. Behaviour that impacts on others will continue to be challenged and addressed by us when evidence is provided. Please continue to support and help us identify those involved if you have any information. If you see anything of concern please call 101 or 999 immediately.

Scams. I have received many messages from local residents around scams that Burbage residents have received recently. Many of these are old scams but it is important to keep reminding people of these. I have spoken to many residents who have been aware of a scam due to it being posted on Neighbourhood Link. Please encourage friends, family and neighbours to sign up. Some of the scams reported are,

SCAM, DVLA, update your details, provides a link to click on.
TEXT from HALIFAX, provided with link around payments. SCAM (Don’t reply)
PHONE CALL SCAM, heard you had a traffic accident. (Put the phone down straight away)
TV LICENCE, renew licence SCAM. (Don’t click on links or call numbers)

COLD CALLER on TWYCROSS ROAD, report of pressure sales to “fix roof tiles”. Remember to never agree to work on the doorstep through cold callers. Never hand over money. Always seek advice from friends and family. If you need more information or support around scams and cold calling please get in touch.
