Gold Jewellery being targeted

Alert message sent 29/10/2020 13:20:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Leicestershire Police has noticed a rise in burglaries in which gold jewellery is targeted.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your neighbourhood call the police immediately on 101. If you believe a crime is being committed please dial 999.

Please consider the following:
Be discreet when wearing jewellery in public, for example wear a scarf to cover a necklace
Be aware of what is happening around you and trust your instincts – if you feel unsafe change your direction and go where you feel safer
Photograph all items of jewellery individually and keep the photos safe
Register your jewellery for free at www.immobilise.com
Buy a small safe for use at home and fix to a secure surface. If you do use a safe, keep it locked at all times when in use
Where possible use a bank or safety deposit box
Lock all windows and doors at night and every time you leave your home or even where you move to another area within your home as some thieves are not deterred by the occupant being home
