Your local priorities: Survey results

Dear Residents

Thank you for completing our recent survey about priorities for policing in your local area. We have had an excellent response. Your feedback has helped us identify particular areas of focus on this beat. They are:

• Priority 1 – Road Safety
• Priority 2 – Rural Crime/ Farm Thefts
• Priority 3 – Nuisance Motorbikes

In order to address Priority 1, we have started completing traffic calming and speed monitoring activities in order to move forward to enforcement. The locations that have been identified are:
Buckminster,
Waltham on the Wolds,
Croxton Kerrial,
Wymondham,
Eastwell
Sproxton.

Activities carried out in October include:
16/10 & 05/10 Enforcement in Waltham on the Wolds where 1 verbal warning was given to low level speeding.
07/10 – Croxton Kerrial Enforcement, No offences
21/10 and 23/10 – Speed monitoring in Bottesford
24/10 Sproxton enforcement, no offences

For Priority 2, we have been supported by the Neighbourhood Patrol Team who have been conducting patrols and stopping vehicles and carrying out searches. During October we have recorded the following stop searches of people and vehicles:
04/10 23:00 Barkestone Le Vale
12/10 02:54 Scalford
12/10 20:50 Plungar
13/10 23:15 Plungar

& 25/10 officers were in involved with a vehicle failing to stop near Redmile while responding to a 999 call regarding suspicious males at a rural premises. This was communicated through Rural/Farm watch.

The following crimes in relation to theft and burglary were recorded in October:

There has been one report of criminal damage involving hare coursing, we are liaising with the farmer to try and identify the vehicle involved.

The beat team have also been patrolling the beat throughout October and have made a log of some of those patrols:

Priority 3 is also important. We have decided to take action to address this by parking at strategic locations to deter this issue. We were out in the Plungar, Redmile area near the Viking Way on 25/10, however no sightings of bikes were made. Looking at our incident list, there has not been any reports of nuisance motorbikes during October.

What you have told us has helped shape our priorities for this beat. My colleagues and I will keep you up-to-date on our progress. You can also follow what we are doing on our Melton Police Facebook Page. If you have any further feedback, questions or concerns, please contact us at Melton Police Station or say hello when you see us on the beat.

Of course, please remember you can report crime online at www.leics.police.uk or call 101. Please dial 999 in an emergency.

Thank you again for your support.

Your Beat Officers,

Police Constable Sharon Roscoe 4364, Police community Support Officer Claire Gray 6541, & Police Sergeant 2196 Jamie Reeve.
