Burbage Police Weekly Update

Alert message sent 18/09/2020 22:39:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

This week in Burbage

An excellent week regarding crime involving theft of vehicles and burglary. No reported issues. We continue to build intelligence and tackle criminals with the support given by local residents. If you have any information that may be of interest to Police, please pass it on to us. If something doesn’t seem right, there’s no harm in letting us know. It may be a crucial part of a bigger picture.

You can also report information online to Crimestoppers. https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/what-we-do-with-your-information

Door to Door sales. We have had a few residents raise concerns regarding door to door sales. This can happen all year round so the best advice we can give is never open your door to someone you don’t know. Use a door chain if you have one. Try to limit how much cash you keep at your property. You can also look into "no cold calling zones" for your area.

Please visit https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/a-z-of-fraud/door-to-door-sales-fraud   For more information/advice around cold calling.

This week we have received reports of suspicious activity at locations such as Sapcote road, De-La-Bere Cresent and St James Close. Thank you for remaining vigilant. Sometimes the calls and contact we get are nothing to worry about and have a perfectly innocent explanations, but it is always worth letting us know if you have concerns. When these calls come in, we often complete area searches to locate the person or vehicle. The more information you give us the better. Thank you.

You said, we did

This week we have visited residents to support with crime prevention and offer residents support when requested. Residents often approach us asking for advice on a range of issues, so we do what we can at a local level to support our residents and hopefully reduce crime going forward.

We are continuing to work with residents who have raised concerns of Anti-social behaviour in the area. We complete door to door investigations to collect feedback from residents regarding local issues. Action is then taken based on responses and evidence gathered.

Issues within the village such as abandoned vehicles, dog waste, fly tipping and graffiti are often dealt with (removed/cleaned up) by partner agencies. I have put a few links below that I hope you find useful to ensure issues in Burbage can be reported to the correct agency. We do also work with partner agencies to tackle some of these issues and try to identify the people involved.
