Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Wide load

On Monday 24th August between 13:00 – 15:30, a wide load will be travelling through Burbage towards the A5. This vehicle will be under a Police escort. It would be appreciated if Church Street can be left clear of parked vehicles during this time to allow the load to travel through safely. Thank you.

This week in Burbage

There have been two incidents of damage to garage doors (attempt breaks). These occurred around Britannia road and Merrifield gardens. Nothing was taken but please remember to if you go away on holiday, please make your property look like someone is in. Also be mindful of what you leave in your garage (is it alarmed, is property security marked, padlocked, CCTV signage etc.)

A set of vehicle registration plates were stolen around the Denis Road area of Burbage in the early hours of the morning. Remember to park your vehicle close to a wall if possible to make it more difficult for them to remove both of the plates. You can also get anti-theft screws which makes it harder to remove the plates. Always remember to report this if yours have been stolen as they may be used in crime.

Reports of Travellers at several locations around Burbage from 18th to 21st August. Police worked with partner agencies to resolve concerns raised in Burbage this week. The travellers left the locations during the week.

Crime Prevention and other useful information

Please have a review of your home security as lock-down eases. Bits of crime are starting to re-appear so it is important to stay vigilant. LOCK your windows when out, SET ALARMS, REMOVE jewellery and cash from your home when you are not there, DO NOT leave anything on display and easy to access. Light timers, CCTV stickers, CCTV, Driveway Bollards are just a few things to make your home safer and provide a visual deterrent to criminals.
