Knife Crime is up at the moment, some carry knives for protection or peer pressure....

Would you know how to spot if your child was carrying a knife?

Did you know that young men aged 12-25, are most likely to get convicted of carrying an offensive weapon?

If you believe your son or daughter is carrying a knife, would you know the signs to look out for?

WARNING SIGNS

- Has your child withdrawn from the family?
- Has their behaviour changed significantly?
- Has your child lost contact with old friends and changed their friendship groups?
- Is your child being secretive and protective of their property - bags or clothing?
- Is your child defensive when you question them about their possessions?
- Has your child been positive about those who do carry knives? especially for protection.

Where do I go from here if they are carrying? what discussion could you have?

- Law - Even if your child is under 18, they can be tried as an adult and can face up to 4 years in prison.
- Personal Safety - Carrying a knife creates a false sense of security and strength. Is your child more willing to put themselves in dangerous situation because of this.

There is severe consequences should they carry a knife. It can affect their ability to get any job, especially if they have a specific industry they wish to work in. It can also affect families, friends as well as victim's friends, families and individuals as well as the community around.
