Alert message sent 17/07/2020 15:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Neighbourhood Link member,

As you may be aware, following the statement made by the Secretary of State for Health on 16 July, some lockdown measures will be changing soon.

Leicester, Oadby and Wigston will continue to follow stricter lockdown restrictions than the rest of the country for at least another two weeks:
  • From 24 July, restrictions for schools and early years childcare will be lifted
  • Restrictions on non-essential retail will be reviewed when the government issues revised Leicester Regulations
  • You should only leave your home for essential travel or exercise
  • You may meet up to six people outdoors (2m apart)
  • Bars, restaurants and hairdressers will remain closed until further notice
  • People who have been shielding should continue to do so.
For any queries or for more details, please visit the Leicester City Council website: https://www.leicester.gov.uk/your-council/coronavirus/

Leicestershire Police will continue to adjust accordingly providing proportionate policing under the relevant legislation to help keep our communities safe. We will continue our approach of Engage, Explain, Encourage and lastly Enforce. We all want to get back to some kind of normality as quickly as possible, so please continue to work with us during these unprecedented times.

You can report breaches of the COVID guidelines on our website. This helps to reduce the demand on our 101 service and should be a quicker process for you to report by: https://www.leics.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/c19/tell-us-about-possible-breach-coronavirus-measures/

We must all take action to help stop the spread of coronavirus. Play your part. Protect your community. If you get symptoms, get a test.

Stay Safe,
