Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Local activity this week

We completed a stop check on a vehicle at Tilton Road Park in the early hours of the morning following a smell of Cannabis. No drugs were found and the driver/passengers were dealt with at the scene. We also completed stop checks on London Road and Horsepool overnight following reports of a suspicious male. Officers will continue to patrol and challenge suspect behaviour throughout the day/night.

We have continued with work relating to nitrous oxide canisters. We have completed several more home visits out of area. Targeted patrols are still ongoing. Hopefully those involved are getting the message.

We have been made aware of an Email and TXT scam in relation to BT where a message is sent claiming you can get a Free IPhone if you pay for the postage. This is a scam. Please remember to never give confidential details out such as bank details. See https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ for more up to date advice.

You can visit this site https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and type your Email address in to see if your Email address been compromised.

Please be aware if you own a FIAT 500 ABARTH. This type of vehicle has been recently targeted in Leicestershire. This type of vehicle was previously targeted in the West Midlands. It is targeted due to its high performance, acceleration and handling. The vehicle may be used in joyriding, illegally exported abroad or broken up for spare parts.
Security advice can be found at https://www.leics.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/theft-of-a-vehicle/vehicle-attracting-thieves/
A couple of things you can do though are to try and block in your vehicle and use a good quality steering lock/bar
Try to block your vehicle in with another vehicle

If you have a friend, neighbour or family member who has one of these vehicles, please pass on.
