House Burglaries in the Knighton Area

Alert message sent 13/06/2020 13:53:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good Afternoon Citizen ,

Thank you for letting us know that Burglary is a concern for you in your local area.

Burglary in the Knighton Area has been dropping the last 3 years and this trend is currently looking like it will continue.

In 2019, Burglaries were 22% lower than in 2018. In 2020 we are on track to further reduce burglary, by a larger percentage.

We know that working with communities is proven to reduce crime in an area and assisting the development and growth of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes is something the Neighbourhood Police Team will continue to support.

We are currently in National Neighbourhood Watch Week which the National Neighbourhood Watch Network are supporting through their #LetsStayConnected campaign.
This is a perfect opportunity to get things started in your area. I would highly recommend starting/joining a scheme, something that we are more than happy to assist with. We have signage available to put in areas where schemes have started (picture attached) and can offer practical advice around how to get this off the ground and then to continue to develop and improve going forward.

To further reassure you, we are aware of a seasonal spike in Burglaries in Knighton in the September and October months. We are already planning an operation to combat this that will involve plenty of crime prevention advice and assistance along with an enforcement operation. We have previously ran this operation the last two years covering Knighton and Oadby with tremendous success.

If you would like advice in regards to starting a Neighbourhood Watch scheme or you have any general questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you
