Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hello,

Some good news for our weekly update.

An eagle eyed resident spotted someone looking up to no good around the School close area of Burbage on 11th June around 00:30. The person was reported as checking vehicle doors in the area. Police were called and attended within minutes. A suspect was stopped in the area and arrested. The investigation is ongoing but thanks to the resident calling us, we were able to attend and deal with the situation. Please continue to be mindful and ensure you leave NOTHING in your vehicles and ensure your vehicle and doors are locked.

We have received a call from a resident who had a phone call from someone claiming to be a “Westminster Police Officer”. This person was trying to obtain bank details. Luckily the resident realised this was a scam. Please speak to your friends and family about the types of scams to prevent these types of disgusting crimes. You can visit https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ for more information on fraud prevention and how to report it.

On Monday 8th June we received a report of two males in a vehicle stealing a residents registration plates off their vehicle. This happened on the Wolvey road around 12:00. If you saw anything or have any information please get in touch quoting 20*290080. We have also received a call regarding theft of registration plates from Sketchley Hall Gardens. If this happens to you, please ensure you report it to us as these plates may be used in crime. I have some FREE VRM Anti-theft screws available so get in touch if you would like any.

This week has seen a couple of road traffic accidents in Burbage. One on the Rugby Road and one on Aston Lane. As far as I am aware, the injuries were not life threatening or life changing. PLEASE let this be a reminder about road safety whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, horse rider, biker or car driver. The roads are starting to get busier and we have had a change in weather conditions. There is a really good website to visit https://www.think.gov.uk/ for all types of road safety. There are lots of reasons for accidents on the road from speeding to driver error. We do as much as possible to help and educate people to prevent accidents. We will continue with our community speed watch and MVAS box when we are able to, due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Just to mention something I find frustrating, if you ride a bicycle PLEASE wear a cycle helmet. If you have children or grandchildren buy them one and ensure they wear it, you could be saving their life.

PLEASE feel free to  RATE, COMMENT, SHARE or PRINT.

Thank you and Take care,

Darren 6035
