Action Fraud Update - Coronavirus Scams to watch out for

Alert message sent 11/04/2020 10:28:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

UPDATE: 641 victims have lost a combined total of £1,820,731 to coronavirus-related scams.

Action Fraud also continue to receive a high volume of reports about fake emails being used to solicit donations to the NHS.

The NHS will never ask you to send money directly to a bank account, or make a payment using Bitcoin.

Additionally, there have been a number of reports regarding emails claiming to be from HMRC offering tax rebates as a result of #coronavirus

If you get a call or message claiming to be from HMRC that asks you to click on a link or to give info such as your name, card or bank details, it’s a scam.
