Vehicle crime

Alert message sent 26/11/2019 12:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good morning
I know that Leicestershire Police have been using social media to highlight issues concerning vehicle crime , I would like to use this platform to do the same . Over recent weeks there appears to have been a rise in the number of thefts from unattended vehicles , both commercial and private. There have been a few cases of  where catalytic converters are being stolen , the assumption being that they are targeted for their value . This was a problem last year and seemingly has come back to the area .
Can I please ask you all to remain vigilant , consider where you park your cars / vans overnight and please keep all items of value out of sight . Clearly its difficult to prevent the theft of a cat converter however vehicles that are being targeted are Mercedes Vans and Toyota's . Please call 999 if you see anything suspicious and be assured that we are making every effort to prevent and detect such offences
Thanks
Mark
