Vehicle Theft Alert

Alert message sent 20/11/2019 11:51:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Have you seen any suspicious activity recently around vehicles in the area?

The local area is currently reporting thefts of Catalytic Converters from vehicles. It seems they are not the only ones as so is other parts of the UK. The catalytic converter is situated on the underside of the vehicle on the exhaust pipe that runs front to back. When taken it can be sold on for the price of the metals inside.

Have you seen any persons jacking up a car recently and working under it on the street? When the vehicle is jacked up the catalytic converter can be cut from the pipe and taken? This could be happening at all times of the day and even overnight.

If you spot any suspicious activity with a vehicle that is happening there and then then ring 999. If you discover a theft after it has happened you can ring 101 or report online on www.leics.police.uk. Please can you give as much description as possible of persons and vehicles if any are in progress or have been spotted.
