Rutland North & South -The joint Rutland North and Rutland South priority remains as Rural Crime in relation to Burglaries, car crime and theft. We’ve had 3 dwelling burglary in March so please be aware to leave some lights on and make your house appear occupied. If you can make it difficult for anyone to get into the rear garden even better as this is the preferred point of entry for burglars. Preferred items for them to steal is Jewellery and cash so please keep these safe. We are continuing to see theft from vehicles and have had a number of theft of number plates this month, perpetrators are hitting cross border forces as well as Rutland. We are working closely with RCC and will be erecting signage in vulnerable areas to remind drivers. Please continue to remove all property – remember’ if you leave it on show it will go. We are still working with our Rural Communities to tackle issues which include Hare coursing of which we have seen a decrease in calls over the last few months. We will continue to conduct Operation Galileo this month with the support of Lincolnshire police. We ask for your continued support in this matter and ask that anything seen to be reported. We continue to utilise the ANPR camera in Rutland to identify vehicles travelling through the County either with no driving documents or linked to crime. We will continue to work closely with the local residents and will alert you as soon as crime is reported and ask that if anything suspicious is seen to report through either 999 or 101.
Uppingham - There has been a rise in the number of reports of drug dealing/taking at licenced premises in Uppingham, and amongst youths hanging around in the street. You have told us this through messages on Facebook, Twitter, in person and telephone calls to police. We are working with local pubs to combat this issue, raise awareness and enforce bans. - We are conducting pro-active patrols in affected areas, and will in some cases carry out "plain clothes" patrols to catch the offenders red handed. - We have created a "Problem Management Profile" which helps co-ordinate the beat teams response to the issue, as well as highlighting it to senior management to gain support. - We are seeking help from specialist teams within Leicestershire Police to help identify the source of the drugs and target it at the root. - We have written an Operational Order named Impede, which helps us co-ordinate this entire response, gain extra resources and target this criminality across all of Rutland.
